Challenge: Renovating a beach house with no room for teenagers
Solution: 2 cabins craned into place.
The Situation: The "Long-Haul" Renovation
Jill and Ross snagged a North Shore fixer-upper near the beach. The problem? The house was too small for their two teenagers and would be for years as they navigated consents and construction.
The Cabin King Solution
- The Precision Lift: Because of mature, protected Pohutukawa trees and a steep site, the cabins had to be craned into place. A HIAB crane precisely lowered two units over the canopy onto the front lawn.
- Teens' Independence: Each teen received their own cabin, allowing them to style their "own home" while remaining on the property and finishing high school.
The Results
The cabins served as the "youth wing" for a couple of years. By the time the teenagers moved away to university, the main house renovations were finally complete, and the cabins were collected, leaving the lawn ready for landscaping.
"The cabins were a game-changer. They made it possible to buy our dream home now, not years in the future."
